Where to stay in Hobart
In Hobart there are plenty of nice places to rest your head for the night, everything from super cheap to 5 star luxury and plenty in between. Be aware that if you are planning on visiting during the Christmas and New Years period places book out a long time in advance, so get in early.
THE ASTOR PRIVATE HOTEL
Owned and managed by the female version of Basil Faulty the lovely and eccentric ’Tildy’. This place is in the heart of town and within easy walking distance to the waterfront, shops and restaurants.
The Astor is a simple and clean hotel, most rooms are doubles or twin share without private bathrooms. However there are plenty shared bathrooms located within the hotel.
MONTACUTE BOUTIQUE BUNKHOUSE
Relatively new on the scene Montacute is an up market back packer style B&B. Antony and Rose know that a trip to Tasmania can add up. After transport + food & wine + tours, there can be precious little left in the budget for accommodation. They set up their boutique bunkhouse with this in mind – they don’t want you to diminish your experience on their beloved island by staying anywhere less than luxurious.
THE HENRY JONES
5 star hotel with plenty of character. Created within Hobart’s oldest waterfront warehouses, the Henry Jones Art Hotel merges historic and modern, blending the original 19th century architecture of the city with ultra-modern design and contemporary art.
HOBART TRAVELODGE
If you have stayed in one before you know what to expect, A clean hotel but without much soul. Rooms vary in cost and luxury.
